Dear friend,
MEMBERSHIP OF THE ‘GDI’
Thank you for your interest in becoming a ‘member’ of the Grassington Devonshire Institute (‘GDI’)! The GDI exists to maintain, develop and operate Grassington Town Hall for the benefit of the people of Grassington and its surrounding villages in Upper Wharfedale. As a registered charity, the ‘GDI’ relies entirely on membership subscriptions, hire fees and events sales to generate income, which supports both its essential running costs and contributes to an ongoing programme of repairs and improvements. It’s a really exciting time to become a member, despite the obvious challenges posed in relation to the Covid-19 crisis in 2020. We have taken the opportunity to undertake a significant repair and improvement project in the Main Hall and we are excited to show you these changes after we have re-opened.
The benefits of membership, in 2020, are:-
We hope you will become a member of the ‘GDI’. It is only through your support that we can maintain and develop the building and provide a programme of events and facilities to our community, so a huge THANK YOU if you do decide to join. Please complete the Membership application form (attached) and return this to davidwood153@btinternet.com . The standing order mandate should be completed and returned to your bank. We look forward to working with you.

PRIZE DRAW RULES
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Prize Draw is to raise funds. The money will be paid into the Grassington Devonshire Institute’s Community bank account and used for general improvement of facilities and activities.
RULES
- As part of the membership package, you will be allocated one number between 1 and the current number of entries.
- The draw will be made, normally, on the second Monday of each month at the regular meeting of the GDI Trustees. A random number generator will be used to select a number from the membership list to provide a winner. Should the meeting be cancelled (a rare event) then two Trustees will meet to make the draw.
- The prize is fixed for 2020 at £50. This will be reviewed annually. The balance of income will go to GDI funds.
- The Prize Draw is a private lottery and is open to all members of the Grassington Devonshire Institute and others, who will to contribute to the GDI’s funds but who are ineligible for membership. For those not yet members, completion of the direct debit mandate for membership automatically enrols you, entitling you to all the other privileges membership provides.
- Anyone age 16 or over can join.
- Payments must be made by standing order (preferably monthly) or annual cheque. One month’s notice is required for cancellation.
- Members’ numbers will only be entered in each monthly draw if their subscription is up to date.
- If a member has no valid reason for missing a payment, their number may be allocated to someone else to avoid gaps in our number sequence.
- The winning cheque or direct payment will be sent out within two weeks of the draw.
- The name and numbers for each month’s winner will be included in the notes of the Trustees’ meetings and posted on the website www.grassingtondevonshireinstitute.org .
- The Prize Draw will be run by the GDI Trustees. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Trustees is final.
- Unless otherwise advised, a member will be deemed to have left membership and hence the Prize Draw if his/her subscription renewal remains unpaid for a period of one month.
- If a winner cannot be contacted, the winnings will be placed into GDI funds after six months.
