Grassington Devonshire Institute is committed to providing a venue that is accessible to the widest possible audience. Maintaining and improving the venue is an on-going process and we are continually striving to provide an all-round inclusive experience for our customers. We are continually planning and reviewing our access information and provision to ensure interaction, experience and usability are suitable for people with accessibility requirements. Introduction​
Grassington Town Hall is situated in Grassington in the county of North Yorkshire. The venue has multiple spaces ranging in capacity from 2 to 300. Operating hours vary depending on operational requirements.

Access Information
Wheelchair users and guests with restricted mobility
Entry to the building is via the Moor Lane entrance, at which a ramp provides access to all areas other than the Snooker Room which does not have step free access. Events in our Main Hall provide reserved seating at the front left of the hall which provides easy access to the Moor Lane doors. 


Hearing-impaired guests
A hearing loop is installed in the Octagon Theatre and Main Hall. Hearing aid users should use the 'T' setting to access these facilities.

Sight impaired guests
Assistance dogs are always welcome at the Town Hall. Our stewards are on hand to escort customers to rooms and specific seats if required.

Getting in and moving around the building
The building has multiple entrances depending on which space is being used. Clear directional signage is in place, both externally and throughout the interior.

Toilets

Our male and female toilets are located on the rear corridor just beyond the foyer. They comprise:

  • Male: Two cubicles, including one with accessible, four urinals and four washbasins

  • Female: Seven cubicles, including one with accessible and five washbasins.

 

All taps have colour indicators for hot and cold. Taps, soap dispensers and hand dryers and are accessible from a seated position.
 

Flooring throughout all toilets is an even non-slip vinyl flooring

Lighting
All communal areas and rooms are evenly and well lit. 


Seating
Seating is provided in all rooms. Most chairs do not have armrests; all chairs have backs. Tables can be provided for most events and activities except for theatre layout audience seating.


Prams and buggies
Prams and buggies can be left in the foyer.


Alcohol
We are a Licensed Premises. The bar, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, is open during audience events.


WiFi
Free guest WiFi is available throughout the venue
